Affordable Hotels in Tokyo With Views: Where We Stayed + Other Options
Finding affordable hotels in Tokyo with views takes some digging, especially when you’re also balancing location and price. Tokyo has thousands of hotels, and choosing one gets harder when you’re trying to balance location, price and a good city view.
On our Tokyo trip with our daughter, who was 4, we stayed in two very different parts of the city: Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo, which we booked with World of Hyatt points, and APA Hotel Higashi-Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower in Shinjuku, which we paid for in cash.
We also researched a lot of Tokyo hotels before the trip. This guide starts with where we stayed, then compares other hotels worth a look if a view matters to you.
Where Should You Stay in Tokyo?
Ginza and Shinjuku both make convenient bases for exploring Tokyo, and we stayed in both. If you’re booking for the view, check the room category before you book. City-view rooms are usually specific room types or higher floors.
Where We Stayed in Tokyo
Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo
We stayed at Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo for one night and booked it with World of Hyatt points, somewhere in the 15,000 to 30,000 range for the night. The location was especially convenient for shopping. The hotel sits on Namiki-dori in central Ginza, steps from the neighborhood’s shops.
Standard rooms start at 35 square meters, which is roomy for Tokyo. Deluxe rooms face Namiki-dori, and the City View Suites on the ninth floor and above have panoramic views over Ginza.
Our room looked out at nearby buildings, so the better view of our trip ended up being at our much cheaper APA hotel. The room itself was nice and had plenty of space for the three of us.

APA Hotel Higashi-Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower
Our other Tokyo stay was APA Hotel Higashi-Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower, where we spent two nights and paid cash, about $160 a night. It gave us a base on the Shinjuku side of Tokyo, with Kabukicho’s busy streets right around us.
The hotel is about a four-minute walk from Higashi-Shinjuku Station and roughly 10 minutes from JR Shinjuku Station’s East Exit. Rooms follow APA’s compact business-hotel format, many around 11 square meters, and there’s a guest-only large public bath with an open-air bath.
From our room, we had a wide view across Tokyo’s skyline, and we could watch trains passing between the buildings below. The room was kind of tight for the three of us, but it worked out OK.

Ginza or Shinjuku: Which Is Better for Your Tokyo Stay?

Choose Ginza if you want a polished central base in the shopping district. Choose Shinjuku if you want to be in one of Tokyo’s busiest areas, with major transit connections and restaurants all around you.
We spent more of our time in Shinjuku, with two nights at APA and one at the Hyatt.

Park Hotel Tokyo
A Shiodome hotel known for its skyline views, a good one to look at if the view is your top priority. At Park Hotel Tokyo, the specific room types explicitly designated with Tokyo Tower views are the Park Suite, Twin Tokyo Tower Side, Queen Tokyo Tower Side, and Corner King Tokyo Tower Side.

How to Book a Tokyo Hotel With a Good View
When comparing rooms, look for:
- “City view” or a landmark view in the room name
- A floor or high-floor designation
- The direction the room faces, when the hotel lists it
- Recent guest photos showing the actual view
