We got off Lyft ride in front of the museum with a unique design building. It was chilly and kind of late for us when we got there. Earlier we spent a few hours in the Holocaust Museum, and went back to the hotel. Our itinerary was pretty set so we went ahead to explore the world of espionage at the International Spy Museum in Washington DC.

Timed Entry

We arrived well past our timed ticket for 2:15 PM. Fortunately for us, the agent allowed us entry after confirming that the museum would soon close. However, the gentleman asked for our military ID, but the lady didn’t need us to show it. The staff members were exceptionally accommodating and friendly.

Play as a Spy

We were directed to an elevator that took our group of five to the museum’s top floor, allowing us to work our way down. At the lobby counter, we received an ID card. Next, at a kiosk, we answered questions and were assigned a spy identity with an undercover mission! The interactive adventure unfolded as we navigated through the museum, solving puzzles, identifying the best gear, choosing disguises, and determining drop locations. All really fun stuff and makes it exciting and engaging for younger kids.

We went through what we could of the exhibits with what time we had left. Interestingly, as we exited the building, a large group of adults in some kind of special event were lining up and set to get on the elevators to go through the same experience we had. Indeed, it was fascinating, interactive, easy to navigate, and lastly, the history offers something for all ages.
